Sin Survivors to Travel to Santa Fe - Ghost Ranch in July

Ghost Ranch near Santa Fe, NM, is a spiritual and educational retreat belonging to the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. Our youth group is to spend a week there in July for spiritual renewal and mission work.

The Sin Survivors have been working hard to raise money for the trip. They will need about $5,200 to cover most expenses. Thus far they have raised about $2,000 through cash donations, a Mexican luncheon after church and a Flower Power campaign. Currently they are engaged in a "Pie in the Face" effort, collecting change in canning jars. Each jar is dedicated to a particular member of the congregation. The person's jar that gets the most money will, of course, get pie in the face at a ceremony in the future, probably after the mission trip.

Sin Surviors to Travel to Iola, Kansas

Our youth Group, the Sin Survivors, are going to be traveling to Iola, Kansas, for an overnight Youth Retreat sponsored by John Calvin Presbytery.

The Sin Survivors will meet at the church at 4:00 PM on Firday, January 23, to begin their Journey to Iola, where they will be hosted by the First Presbyterian Church there. On Saturday morning they will be assisting First Presbyterian Church with Angel Food Distribution.

The Sin Survivors will return to Willard-Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church on Satruday afternoon around 3 to 4 PM.

WMZP Blog Used for News, Calendar Items and Items of General Interest to Our Membership

Your webmaster has made the decision to use our blog extensively for calendar items, news, and general items of interest instead of changing the website. Editing the website is a much more complicated and time consuming proposition than blogging. A blog entry can be started and saved as a draft, a blog entry does NOT REQUIRE A SEPARATE WEB PUBLISHING PROGRAM, and on and on.

This means that you, yes you, will have to learn to utilize our blog. It is a simple matter of loading the website and clicking on "Blog" in the navigation pane.

Another benefit of using a blog is that other members will be able to leave posts. Lorraine will be able to communicate with us as will all the mission team convenors. I will be providing training for those who are interested in the near future.

After graduation from high school in Wilmington, Delaware, I studied religion for my Bachelor of Arts degree from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. I then received a Fulbright Fellowship to explore iconography in Transylvania, Romania that proved to be an eye-opening and life-transforming experience. Upon my return from Romania, I began seminary studies which included training in clinical pastoral education as a student chaplain at Delaware State Hospital and two years of field work in a small church in south Philadelphia where I ministered to Southeast Asian refugee families. My Master of Divinity came from Princeton Seminary.
I was ordained in 1984, just after reunion of our two predecessor denominations. My first call was to b associate pastor of Christian education and youth at First Presbyterian in Oneonta, New York. After five years there, I moved 100 miles east to be pastor of First United Church, Presbyterian of Hoosick Falls, New York, a small town just outside Bennington, Vermont. The next step in the journey, after six years in Hoosick Falls, was to Dundee Church in Omaha, Nebraska, to serve for five years as associate pastor for pastoral care and missions. My time in Omaha included a mission trip to Haiti, implementation of a parish nurse program, a term on presbytery’s Committee on Ministry and membership on the Board of Advisors of the Omaha Presbyterian Seminary Foundation.
My family is a source of great joy for me: my twin daughters, Christiana Joy (Annie) and Caroline Grace (Carrie), born in December 1999, and my husband Richard. In order to have family support during the twins’ early years, we moved to Florida in October 2000, where I have served at Trinity Church the Sea on Fort Myers Beach as associate pastor.
In my limited spare time I enjoy reading, travel, music and art, but feel most at home in my roles as pastor and mother. I seek only to serve God and his people with faithfulness, enthusiasm, creativity and love.

Welcome to the blog of Willard-Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church! Our congregation is 200 strong and we are Christians working to bring the word and mercy of Christ to our community and beyond.

Our Mission Statement says, "It is the mission of Willard-Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church to serve God, to reach out in love and care for our congregation, our community and the world; to be people who are Christ centered, fed by God's word and led by the Holy Spirit."

In order to fulfill our Mission Statement, we have many mission tasks including Angle Food Ministries, Relay For Life, Sins Survivors Youth group, Vacation Bible School, community outreach and world outreach programs as we join with our denomination's (Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.,) worldwide mission efforts

Both the Presbyterian Women and the Men's group serve the congregation and the community in many ways, often giving of themselves to help others as well as offering monetary assistance is some cases.

Our church is known for the wonderful music from our choirs and when people attend our church for the first time we try to make them feel welcome.

This blog is intended for the use of the elders and the members of our church. We also welcome comments from other readers.

It is our intention to make our blog one that people will return to over and over.
